February 11, 2006

I never really thought I'd have to sit down and write a message like this but ultimately, life has a way of pulling people in different directions and away from what unites them. A year ago tonight, we were sitting backstage at Endoplasmic, waiting to play our 3rd show to 30 kids who knew nothing about our band and even less about us as people. A year later, this is certainly not the case.

As cliche as it sounds, in everybody's life there is a time to make choices that are both difficult and painful, but nonetheless necessary. In the past year we have been a part of so many amazing things that took us far beyond what we thought was possible for a band of four dreamers from Richmond, BC. We put eveyrthing we had into writing songs that meant and still mean the world to us, we played some incredible shows with some amazing bands (including Warped Tour, a dream come true for all of us), hung out with our favourite record labels and most importantly, made some of the most loving, caring friends and fans that we've ever encoutered in music and life. Remember August became more than just a band, it defined who we were both individually and collectively. Yet, perhaps most importantly, it enabled us to be a part of something that was more than us, more than chords and lyrics, more than four kids onstage having fun.

With every choice comes consequences and reprocussions. Often, this involves saying goodbye to the things that mean the world to you. Luckily for Remember August, this is not that time.

In a few days, Grant will be boarding a flight to begin his pursuit of a master's degree from the University of Melbourne. Grant has worked extremely hard to attain this opportunity and we could not be prouder of him. He really has earned it. Cody is actively pursuing drum sponsorships and is gaining signficant interest from many companies. He deserves it. Andy will be involving himself in a new studio-project (Boom! Boom!) as well as writing and demoing the next Storybook Ending CD. The most important thing to know is that these are things that we are pursuing temporarily. Remember August is not temporary.

We will continue to write and record through the internet and pro-tools and will be constantly updating this site with music, news and details. We have submitted our application for Warped Tour '06 and are in the planning stages of a Western Canada tour for the summer of '06. We will be back performing live in July. You won't even know we were gone.

We just received back a bunch of new demos and we are all excited for you guys to hear the new songs. Keep your eyes and ears posted on our purevolume and myspace pages as we will be throwing these up for you guys to hear as soon as we can

We are also waiting on the final copy of the "Live Journal Romance" music video. We've received a bunch of previews and the video looks really cool, we're all looking forward to showing it off.

The most important thing to know is that Remember August is not over. In the big scheme of things, it is only just beginning. It represents something in our lives that we will always come back to with love, respect and care. In so many ways, Remember August is who we are. We wouldn't have it any other way. As long as our bodies permit it, we will be rocking out together and singing these songs as loud as our lungs will permit. I hope every single person reading this feels like a part of RA because we did not build this alone.

We want to thank you guys so much for the laughs, the smiles, the hugs, the screams, the rock out and the nights that made us feel alive.

This will always be ours.

See you guys soon.

Love

-RA

January 7, 2006

Upcoming show Friday, January 13th at South Arm Community Center (Richmond, BC) with Elias, The Februarys & A Textbook Tragedy. Doors open at 8:30, $5 at the door. We'll have the new "No Monkey Buisness" shirts for sale as well as the semi-new "Young & Dreaming" shirts... not to mention all the pins and posters. We miss you and look forward to seeing you at the show.

I'll also mention (as many of you already know) that Tom has decided to leave the group. We wish him all the best as he leaves music behind and heads off into the world of film. Cammy J (producer & bassist extraordinaire) will be taking over the bass duties for the January 13th show... which is sure to be impressive.

December 4, 2005

Thanks to everyone that made it out to the last few shows. It was really great to be back on stage. We'll be finishing up the studio for the rest of December and should have some more shows listed for January.

In the mean time, check out our new merchandise.

November 10, 2005

SHOWS! Its been a long time since our last hometown show... so here you go: Friday, November 25th at South Arm Community Center. We'll be playing with 3 great bands: Tom Howie, Jordan Gray and On Holiday. $5 @ the door, doors open at 7:30 pm.

For those of you over the age of 18, RA will be playing on Thursday, November 24th at the Blarney Stone (Downtown Vancouver). Doors open at 9:00 pm, so come down and have a few drinks.

Lastly, a reminder that RA will be performing tomorrow (Friday, November 11th) at Endoplasmic Studios in Langely. Doors open at 7 pm I believe... but get there early because it tends to sell out.

Directions and more info on the shows can be found here (enable pop-ups)

October 26, 2005

Upcoming show on November 11th (Rememberance Day) at Endoplasmic Studios in Langley. Should be a fun show, we haven't played at Endo in a while and we'll be playing with some good friends of ours. Map/Directions and all sorts of other info here

The recording is coming along... drums are done and guitars are almost there. We started working on some vocal ideas this week. We should have one or two new tunes ready for the the November 11th show. We're also looking into booking a long overdue Richmond show. This site will keep you updated.

October 2, 2005

Big thank yous to everyone that made it out to the show on Friday night. We had such a great time. It had been so long since our last show and it felt amazing to be up onstage in front of everyone. We wouldn't be here without all of you... you mean the world to us. In all it was a great night. It was nice to catch up with so many old friends and to send Lucas off in style (Leaving Swingset Champion).

Apparently we're playing a show in November. The details are still being worked out, but I'll let you know as soon as we do. I'm hoping to get some more merch for that show as well. Other than that... we start recording drums this week for the new demos. Check back for more updates.

September 18, 2005

Time to update the site... its long overdue. We've been extremely busy since the last update - writing, recording and everything involved in the demoing process. A couple slices of news to pass along... We'll be playing a show on Friday, September 30th at Sonrise Church (on the Surrey/Langely border). We were planning on taking a break from shows for awhile, but our good friends in Swingset Champion asked us to play their farewell show... so it has to be done. Hopefully you can make it out to the show. More information including directions/bus info can be found here.

Also, I received an interesting email the other day from an RA fan. He managed to TAB out the guitar, bass & drum parts for "Save Our Lives." Its a huge honour for us. It must have been a huge process. Check it out here. I should have "The Mourning After" up online soon too. Hope everyone in RA land is doing well. We miss you and look forward to seeing you on the 30th.

August 26, 2005

Two Remember August songs ("Save Our Lives" & "Live Journal Romance") now available for DOWNLOAD at http://www.purevolume.com/rememberaugust. Go download them, share them with friends, throw them on a mixed CD, iPod, whatever you want... enjoy.

August 23, 2005

The Mesa Luna show is cancelled!

I'm sorry to be posting this message so close to tomorrow night's scheduled show @ Mesa Luna. As you guys probably know, this is not a show that we were promoting or putting on ourselves . Rather, we were asked to be a part of this particular date of the Band 2 Band Kombat series.

Over the past few weeks we have been extremely busy with touring, writing and meetings and as a result, we were not able to be actively involved with the preparations and obligations of tomorrow night's event. Therefore, due to a number of problems linked to mix-ups with the promoter, we are unable to play the show tomorrow night.

We feel terrible for the many of you who were planning on attending our last show for several months (as we prepare to write to enter the studio for the writing and recording of our next record) and as you guys know, we have never cancelled a show. Despite sickness, sorrow, personal differences and even family deaths, Remember August has never missed or cancelled a single show. Trust us, if we could play the show tomorrow night, we would....it is simply out of our control and we are unable to do so. Please understand guys, we feel terrible about this but there is nothing we can do.

Thank you guys so much for your love and support, we are sorry that we are letting you all know of this so late but we promise to be back as soon as we can with a bunch of new songs to sing along to at the top of your lungs.

August 21, 2005

Thanks so much to everyone that made it out to the show last night at West Richmond Community Center. We had such an amazing time. The crowd was more nuts than I'd ever seen them... all I remember was playing along, looking over and seeing Andy crowd surfing away. You guys really make us feel special... thanks so much.

We'll also be playing this Wednesday, August 24th at Mesa Luna (on Broadway near Burrard) if you're so inclined. We'd love to see you out. There will be 13 bands playing, starting at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any band member or at the door.

The Mesa Luna show will be our last show for quite some time as we'll be locking ourselves in the studio to work on new material. I'll be keeping everyone up to date via this site, so check back often (I might even put some new demos up to get your opinions.)

August 09, 2005

Now we're heading out the door for tour....we'll be back Monday...

August 05, 2005

August already... where has the summer gone? A couple news items. First off, thank you to all the amazing people we met up at Sun Peaks last weekend. We had such an awesome time. We ended up arriving in Sun Peaks around 3 pm, checking in to our hotel, going for a swim, grabbing some food and then performing to an excellent crowd. The mountain air was so refreshing and relaxing... we hope to be back soon.

We have some new t-shirts coming out. We're sticking with the black and pink, but throw in a bit of white and a new design. We like them a lot, hopefully you will too. We'll have them for tour as well as our next hometown show which will hopefully be around the second to last weekend in August.

Other than that... check out the tour info. For those of you in our tour cities, we hope to see you out at the shows. Please come by the merch booth after the show and hang out with us.

July 29, 2005

I just put the August tour info up on the website. Its going to be a fairly short tour focused primarily in Alberta. We're really stoked for the shows, as we're playing with some insane bands in some killer venues. Check out the dates here.

We also have a show this weekend (Saturday, July 31) at Sun Peaks Resort. The concert is part of the Mountain Bike Festival happening this weekend. So if you live in the area, or feel like making the 4 our drive out of Vancouver, please come by and check out the show. Show starts at Masa's Bar & Grill around 9:00 pm.

July 20, 2005

It’s been entirely too long since the last update... so here goes. Huge "Thank You" to everyone that came by Vancouver's Ernie Ball Stage at this year's Van's Warped Tour. We had such an amazing time and it was all possible because of you guys. It really means a lot to us that you all support the band so much. We ended up performing around 6 pm, right after Fall Out Boy. The crowd was insane... the single security guard had no idea what to do. He told us after the show that he had never seen an Ernie Ball Stage crowd go that nuts.

TOUR: The Southern BC tour went really well. We affectionately named the tour "Sweet Dads & Problem Vans" due to the fact that the dads at every houses we stayed were so nice to us, they let us crash on their floor and cooked us breakfast in the morning... the second half of the tour name is pretty self explanatory. I've uploaded a couple photos from the tour. Check them out here.

SHOWS: A couple new shows before our August Tour... This Saturday (July 23rd) at the Buffalo Club (19+) for the On Holiday CD Release Party and Next Saturday (July 31st) at Sun Peaks Resort (near Kamloops) as a part of their Summer Concert Series (19+)

Tour news coming soon...

July 8, 2005

The Van's Warped Tour is quickly approaching... 4 Days. Remember August will be performing on the Vancouver Ernie Ball Stage, so please come by and check out the show. We'll be playing new songs and giving away all sorts of free stuff, so please come by the merch booth and say "hi." They have yet to announced the stage times, but we're expecting to be early. Gates open at 11:00 am.

Tour Dates! The July tour dates are up, so click through here for all the tour info. Unforunately we won't be making it out to Alberta on this leg of the tour, but we have confirmed dates for Edmonton and Calgary in mid August... so we will be back soon. Thanks for all the emails, we honestly appreciate all the support.

One last thing: PHOTOS. I've set up a new gallery. Take a look here and enjoy. See you at Warped...

June 21, 2005

Warped Tour 2005! We finally received confirmation that we'll be playing the Vancouver date on this year's Warped Tour. We'll be on the Ernieball Stage at UBC's Thunderbird Stadium on July 12th. We are so greatful for this opportunity to perform and we thank you so much for taking the time to vote for us. This is going to be an excellent place to pull out the new songs we've been writing as well as go nuts with the older stuff. Doors open at 11:00 am, not sure what time we'll be on yet, but I'm guessing early.

Also, thank you so much to everyone that made it out to the show at WRCC on Saturday. We had an amazing time. It was great to see all of you singing along and going nuts. Thanks also go out to the guys from Morning Call. Really great guys, amazing band and excellent tunes. Tommy Au (photographer) was at the show so when I get the photos back from him, I'll throw them up on the site.

June 8, 2005

LYRICS! We have had piles of requests for Remember August lyrics, so here they are: Click here for lyrics.

TOUR VIDEO! I have also put a (heavily compressed) version of the 2005 "Save Our Lives" Tour video online (in quicktime format). The movie is 11 megabytes so it could take a while to load. You can also download the movie by right clicking the link and selecting Save Target As... from the drop-down menu. If you would like an actually full version (uncompressed) of this movie, drop us an email. Click here to see tour movie.

One last bit of info... We will be selling the new 5 Song CDs at the June 18th show for $5. For those of you that purchased a 3 Song CD, you can get the new 5 Song disc for only $3 (the cost of printing the CD)... there is a catch though. WE NEED YOU TO BRING THE 3 SONG TO THE SHOW (We won't take it away from you, we just need to see that you own it). Email me if you have any questions. Thanks.

June 6, 2005

Remember August was just voted the # 1 local band in British Columbia, (Michael Buble was # 2) in the June issue of Youthink Magazine (Circulation 75,000 +). If you haven't seen it yet, you can pick up a copy at your local community center or high school. The issue also includes a live review of the band by Stephanie Ip. The review can also be read online, here.

June 5, 2005

Unfortunately things didn't work out exactly to plan for the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands. Thank you so much to everyone that took the time to listen to the tunes and support the band. We finally clocked in with over 3300 plays (second place for British Columbia). All is not lost though... we're still working on the Warped Tour, so I will definitely let you know how that progresses.

Next Richmond show: June 18th @ West Richmond Community Center with Morning Call (from the Island) and Sic Semper. Tickets are $3 at the door and doors open at 7:00 pm. Click here for directions.

May 24, 2005

Home. Arrived back home yesterday after a successful tour of South Western BC and Alberta. 12 Days, 11 shows and a lot of fun. We had an amazing time, met some great people and shared the stage with some excellent bands. Thank you so much to everyone that helped us out. You were the ones that made this tour so incredible. We look forward to heading back your way very soon. Check out the final tour journal entry here.

Moving along... we're in the midst of booking a home-town Richmond show in mid June and then possibly heading back through BC and Alberta in late June / early July. We're also waiting to hear some news regarding a Festival tour in mid July. So make sure you check back for the latest update. I can't say this enough... Thank you so much for your support.

May 9, 2005

Well we are down to the last couple of days before tour. A couple quick things. The show details are all up on the site and are accurate as of today. While we are on the road, we will be keeping a through our "Community" section. So please check it out and see what we are up to on tour.

I have also uploaded "Save Our Lives" on to the Battle Of The Bands website, so give it a listen here and let us know what you think.

May 4, 2005

Just a quick update to let you know whats going on with Remember August. We finally finished mixing the two new songs (Locks Are For Honest People and Save Our Lives) and should have them off for duplication tomorrow. The plan is to have the finished discs in our hands before we head out on tour... one week today!

If you haven't checked out our tour dates, please take gander over here... All the details will be up on the site by this weekend. We've also added two more dates: Medicine Hat on May 18th and Penticton on May 22nd.

Check back this weekend... we're still hammering out the details, but we should have some exciting July tour news up on the site by then. Thanks for reading...

April 24, 2005

A huge "Thank you" to everyone that made it out the show last night at West Richmond Community Center. It was amazing. We had such a good time. That'll be our last local all-ages show for a little while, so I hope everyone had as much fun as we did. We got some photos of the show that I'll be putting up in the "live photos" section of site... as well as some more "RA Friend Photos." If you have any pictures of the band, please email them to me and I'll put them up on the site. Thanks again for everything last night guys, you have no idea how much it means to us.

April 17, 2005

Its been a little while since the last news post, so I thought it was about time to tell you what is going on with Remember August. Things are starting to get pretty busy. We're trying to get two new songs recorded and pressed before we head out on tour in May. Guitars and Vocals should be finished tracking by the weekend and we'll hopefully have the mixed copy of the tunes in our hands by May 1st.

Addition dates are being added to the "Save our Lives" Tour... Penticton should be confirmed this week for Sunday, May 22nd, and hopefully more to come. Locally, the last all-ages show before tour is going on this Saturday, April 23rd at West Richmond Community Center. The approximate schedule goes as follows:

Doors @ 7:30
Nikki Hurst - 7:45
Tom Howie - 8:30
Accident Scene - 9:15
Remember August - 10:00 pm

Tickets are $3 at the door. A map is available here. We look forward to seeing you at the show.

March 26, 2005

TOUR! The tour dates are up on the site, so check 'em out and if you or anyone you know lives in any of the cities we're playing, please come by and check us out. I'll have further details later on this week. I've also posted another Richmond All-Ages show. It will be our last Richmond show before tour, so there is a good chance that the shows going to be pretty crazy. We look forward to seeing you there.

March 18, 2005

Just a few site updates... I've added new live photos from the March 12th show as well as information (including a map) for upcoming shows. If you haven't already noticed, "Live Journal Romance" is now available on the battleofthebands.com/rememberaugust website.

As far as merch goes... I've added two new buttons and a 12x18 inch poster for your purchasing pleasure. The posters are regularly $2 at our shows, but listed for $5 on our website. Why, you ask? The extra cost goes towards shipping and tube packaging the poster (no folding). I've also added production and engineering credits for the CD as well as the track list in the "Music" section. I should have some more stuff for you shortly. Until then... Enjoy.

A massive "Thank you" to everyone that made it out to the CD Release last night at WRCC. That was by far the best time we've had at a show. It means so much to see you all out supporting the band. Special thanks to Sic Semper and Ian Malinski for sharing the bill with us... they both put on excellent shows, as usual, and we look forward to seeing them in the near future.

For the many of you that came by the merch booth and bought a CD, we hope you like it and please let us know your thoughts. We're always interested in finding out what you liked and didn't like. If you weren't able to pick up a disc at the show, you can still purchase them through our online store. Thanks again for the show last night. We look forward to seeing you on April 2nd.

Remember August's latest track "The Getaway" is finished and up online HERE. We finished mixing both "The Getaway" and "Live Journal Romance" last night with Cammy J at BFN Sound. Give it a listen and throw your thoughts up on the Message Board. The plan right now is to remix "The Mourning After" on Friday, send the 3 songs off for duplication and have them ready for sale at the March 12th show.

Show. March 12th. West Richmond Community Center. Doors at 7 pm. $3 at the Door. The line-up is: Sic Semper, Ethers Void, Remember August and Ian Malinski. We will have a merch booth set up inside the venue so please stop by, pick up a CD and say hi.

We finally finished tracking vocals today for the last two songs to be released on the RA EP (The Getaway and Live Journal Romance). We'll be in the studio mixing them with Cammy J at the beginning of the week and should have them done by Wednesday or Thursday. This means that we will have copies of the EP for sale at the Richmond show on March 12th. That being said...

we just signed up for the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands, so by the end of next week you will be able to hear one of the new tune on the EB website and vote for us at the same time... for now, check out our current profile here. Winners of the Ernie Ball competition go on to play on one of the Warped Tour dates.

Show tomorrow night (Saturday, Feb 26) at the Rain Lounge in Burnaby, BC. Its an all-ages venue that servers liquor to 19+. Andy and Grant will be playing an acoustic set, so if you're free tomorrow night, come by and check out the show.

...long week. We played our fourth and final show of the week, last night at Endoplasmic in Langley. Thanks to everyone that made it out to one (or more) of the last three shows. A special thanks to the bands (DS Sutton, Drakes and Complete) for having us on the bills and showing us how its done. From here we go to Burnaby on February 26th for an acoustic set and then onto West Richmond Community Center on March 12th.

If you didn't get a chance to check us out live or you just want to refresh your memory, I threw some live photos up in the photos section. I've also upgraded to a nicer message board... so please post some comments/questions/critiques about the band in the "community section."

MORE TUNES!.. soon. Now that we got those shows out of the way we can focus on finishing the other two songs we have for the EP. We're aiming for the end of the month.

A big "thank you" to all of you that made it out to the show last night at Sylynn Hall... we had an amazing time. We truly appreciate you coming out to show your support. Thanks also go out to Billy + The Lost Boys, The Paper Lanterns and Swingset Champion for putting on excellent shows and having us on the bill.

That being said, we have three more shows THIS WEEK! We would love to see you out at one (if not all) of these shows. Check out the shows section for more details and directions.... and if you didn't get a chance to last time, please come by the merch booth after the show and hang out. See you Wednesday!

February 3, 2005

Just a quick note about the upcoming shows. All the shows are "All-ages" except for the Brickyard on the 10th. If you are wondering how to get to any of these shows, I've added a map link for each show... so no "I couldn't find it" lam-a$$ excuses. I've received a couple emails asking about cover... I'm not completely sure about each show, but no more than $7. See you on the 5th...
